Beaver Lake Striper Report

BAILEY'S BEAVER LAKE GUIDE SERVICE (479)366-8664 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (479)366-8664 end_of_the_skype_highlighting I have added GPS coordinates of striper and shad location to my fishing report for all you serious "LINE SIDERS"!

Be on the look out for surface activity from smaller fish i.e. white bass and hybrids. Small stripes are also beginning to look to the surface. No your species and make sure you identify any fish you keep. There is no limit on white bass, there is a 3 fish limit on striper/hybrid and a 20 inch minimum length on striper. You may not keep more than 3 striper and hybrid in combination.

Stripes are on the move. They are adjusting location following bait as it moves back up lake toward the river. Bait is on the move due to falling water temps and food availability.

Most striper are being caught between 30 and 60 feet deep with some large fish caught near 100 ft deep. The fall pattern shift is beginning and the striper will begin relating to tapering points leading up to flats and/or humps where bait will be located. Night fishing is still good but the morning and afternoon bite is beginning to pick up.

Check along bluffs and tree lines! Bombers and redfins fished on down riggers are producing nice striper....troll baits at about 1.5- 2.5 miles per hour. Umbrellas are also producing at this speed. Work the area above the thermocline where the bait fish are holding when trolling umbrellas.

The striper really get active when they are generating.....check the daily lake level and flow data link on my web site.

Striper are keyed on steeper breaks with quick access into deep water where they can ambush shad. But are beginning to shift location to tapering points, humps and flats.

Live Gizzard shad as always on Beaver Lake when fishing for Trophy Stripers is the go to approach.

The following area's will be holding striper at different times during the day.

On the mid and lower sections check out these area's. Water surface temps are in the mid to low 80's.

Rocky Branch- Try fords creek and goat island areas. The bluff at the escarpment-N36* 19.983' W93* 54.972'. Fish being caught near the water intake-N36* 19.561 W93*53.521

Beaver Lake Striper Report

BAILEY'S BEAVER LAKE GUIDE SERVICE (479)366-8664 Fishing has been slow but there are fish to be caught the stripers are feeding, persistence, patience as well as cold weather fortitude will be the requirements again this week. The bait is staying near the surface looking for the warmest water. We are experiencing a shad kill.

Watch for birds to determine the best area's this week. The water is tinted with the run off.

The striper will be starting their push up river for the spawn soon, probably near the end of this month or 1st of next month.

Most fish are suspending 10-30 deep. "Free linning" and "balloons" are the technique to use.
An umbrella rig will also produce.

With the cold front look for the bait and the Stripers to move deeper again.

Live bait will be the go to approach. Some fish can be caught on jigs or jigging spoons.

You will have to get in their face with whatever you use.

For daily Beaver Lake levels and flow data go to my website and click on the Daily Beaver Lake Level and Flow info link.

The following area's should hold fish, however try to find the clearest water possible. This will most likely be in the Rocky Branch area you will need to adjust your technique to the weather condition's. You will find a link to the Beaver Lake level and Flow charts for Beaver Lake on the Area/species information page of my website.

Here's on old guides trick, if you are fishing up river where the water is dirty try dipping your shad/minnows tail in a chartreuse dye it doesn't matter if it is scented it just makes the bait more visible to the fish.

On the white river from the hwy 12 bridge to the Hickory creek area concentrate efforts near the channel. Water temp is about 39-40 degrees.

Hickory Creek- Water is dirty fishing is extremely slow.

On the mid and lower sections check out these area's. Water temp is in the low 40's.
