Beaver Lake Striper Report

BAILEY'S BEAVER LAKE GUIDE SERVICE (479)366-8664 Fishing has been slow but there are fish to be caught the stripers are feeding, persistence, patience as well as cold weather fortitude will be the requirements again this week. The bait is staying near the surface looking for the warmest water. We are experiencing a shad kill.

Watch for birds to determine the best area's this week. The water is tinted with the run off.

The striper will be starting their push up river for the spawn soon, probably near the end of this month or 1st of next month.

Most fish are suspending 10-30 deep. "Free linning" and "balloons" are the technique to use.
An umbrella rig will also produce.

With the cold front look for the bait and the Stripers to move deeper again.

Live bait will be the go to approach. Some fish can be caught on jigs or jigging spoons.

You will have to get in their face with whatever you use.

For daily Beaver Lake levels and flow data go to my website and click on the Daily Beaver Lake Level and Flow info link.

The following area's should hold fish, however try to find the clearest water possible. This will most likely be in the Rocky Branch area you will need to adjust your technique to the weather condition's. You will find a link to the Beaver Lake level and Flow charts for Beaver Lake on the Area/species information page of my website.

Here's on old guides trick, if you are fishing up river where the water is dirty try dipping your shad/minnows tail in a chartreuse dye it doesn't matter if it is scented it just makes the bait more visible to the fish.

On the white river from the hwy 12 bridge to the Hickory creek area concentrate efforts near the channel. Water temp is about 39-40 degrees.

Hickory Creek- Water is dirty fishing is extremely slow.

On the mid and lower sections check out these area's. Water temp is in the low 40's.

Prarrie Creek -Birds are feeding consistently in the area. Look for fish from the islands to the bridge.

Copper mine-Area's near points 8 and 9 and 10 are holding some fish.

Rocky Branch-Lots of birds and bait in this area. Look near the bluff's by the marina,in front of the marina along the gravel bank across the bay to the "big rock" also near "Red Bluff" and the road bed extending from the gravel bank to the island. The shad are about 5-20 feet deep and the striper are scattered from 8-35ft deep. Several trophy fish have been taken here.

Van Hollow-Area around twin coves and point 6 are holding fish and bait.

On the main lake try fishing jigging spoons 20-60ft deep in these area's 5-6-8-9-10.

Beaver Lake Striper Report

BAILEY'S BEAVER LAKE GUIDE SERVICE (479)366-8664 Fishing has been slow but should pick up with the warming trend for this week, most fish will be bottom oriented and in the mid lake section of the lake. Most fish are 30-70ft deep. Live bait will be the go to approach. Some fish can be caught on jigs or jigging spoons. You will have to get in their face with whatever you use. Bottom fishing should be productive over the coming weekend.

The Corp of Engineers are dropping the lake! Watch out for navigation hazards you may have forgotten about during the high water period. Beaver is getting close to normal pool and the Corp will stop 24hr generation when lake reaches 1120fasl. Current through the lake have fish facing "up river" and relating to current breaks to ambush bait. With this in mind you should be checking the upstream and downstream edges of points, islands, hump's, road bed's etc..

For daily Beaver Lake levels and flow data go to my website and click on the Daily Beaver Lake Level and Flow info link.

The following area's should hold fish, however try to find the clearest water possible. This will most likely be in the coppermine area you will need to adjust your technique to the weather condition's. Also remember while they drop the lake the dirty water will move towards the dam and your best fishing will be ahead the "mud line".
