BEAVER LAKE ARKANSAS STRIPER GUIDE FISHING REPORT

03/04/2016

Striper activity forecast for the week is:GOOD

POOR-FAIR-GOOD

BAILEY'S BEAVER LAKE GUIDE SERVICE(479)366-8664 Beaver Lake striper are making their way into backs of coves feeding on bait using warmer water temps, a degree or two is all it takes to concentrate bait and Beaver Lake Striper. There has been some nice top water action! Some Beaver Lake Striper are also using deep water adjacent to road beds, gravel bars, tree lines and bluffs, here again look for water temps that are concentrating bait. The Beaver Lake Striper that are up in the White river and Wareagle arms are located in warmer water pockets or close to the banks and on the bottom along gravel bars as they often do when the water gets cold and murky. Use these intersections of warm water/structure to your advantage as it will often concentrate schools of bait and Beaver Lake Striper. Try dragging baits close to these areas including along the bottom on gravel bars will get you some fish. Make sure you do not keep striper under 20 inches and not more than 3 striper or hybrid or combination, Walleye must be 18 inches long with a limit of 4! Beaver lake striper fishing will be GOOD with striper taken on live shad fished on down lines 20-30ft deep also try trolling small umbrella rigs with white grubs or chartrues for stained water, plugs flat lines or slightly weighted lines like Rapala #14 husky jerk's in black back or purple back colors and Smithwick Rogues in similar colors in 5-6inch model. Jerk baits like flukes used near the bottom will also produce. Try dead sticking as well for Beaver Lake Striper.
Know your species and make sure you identify any fish you keep. There is no limit on white bass, there is a 3 fish limit on striper/hybrid and a 20 inch minimum length on striper. You may not keep more than 3 striper and hybrid in combination

Fish location is greatly influenced by lake level and current flow, current in the lake from generation will generally position fish on upstream or down stream edges of structure......check the daily lake level and flow data link on my web site.

Striper activity forecast for the week is:FAIR

POOR-FAIR-GOOD

BAILEY'S BEAVER LAKE GUIDE SERVICE(479)366-8664 Beaver lake striper are moving into tributaries and backs of long coves. Striper are currently found in the river/creek arms. They are feeding intermitently through out the day.Make sure you do not keep striper under 20 inches and not more than 3 striper or hybrid or combination, Walleye must be 18 inches long with a limit of 4! Beaver lake striper fishing will be FAIR with striper taken on live shad fished from 20-60ft deep also try trolling small umbrella rigs with white grubs, plugs on three way rigs like Rapala #14 husky jerk's in black back or purple back colors and Smithwick Rogues in similar colors in 5-6inch models. Bink pro scale 1oz jigging spoons in white, white with red throat, white many shad and silver many shad are still producing fish. Work the spoon through the school and hang on tight jigging spoons are also producing walleye! Dead sticking with flukes on 1/2oz-2oz(depending on depth) jig heads are also producing, try using white/chartruese combo's. To dead stick you rig your fluke on your jig head and lower it to a depth just above the stripers and just below the depth where bait is holding, sometimes this means right near the bottom. Once your lure is at the correct depth you just "dead stick" it. Hold it still and wait. Occassionally Striper want the lure suspended just above the depth where the bait is holding so don't be afraid to change it up till you get 'em figured out!

Know your species and make sure you identify any fish you keep. There is no limit on white bass, there is a 3 fish limit on striper/hybrid and a 20 inch minimum length on striper. You may not keep more than 3 striper and hybrid in combination.

Beaver Lake Striper / Walleye Report

BAILEY'S BEAVER LAKE GUIDE SERVICE(479)366-8664 The cold fronts have put a damper on fishing last week but Striper fishing is picking up! Striper are in their usual spring pattern.

Break out your spoons, jigs and rooster tail's.....The white bass run is on! White bass start their run when water temps reach the 53-65 degree range. The males are first to move in and then the females aren't far behind, usually in the 62-67 temp range.

Striper are being caught on free lines and balloons fished 15ft deep.

Bait can still be found in the backs of coves looking for warm water springs flowing in. Striper are holding on main lake structure near any cove that is holding shad.

Stripers can also be taken with #9 rapala original's or Husky jerks and/or rogues 3-5inches long flat line trolled, use planer boards in order to spread your lines giving you the ability to fish more rods but also allowing you to cover shallow water near the bank as you troll.  Move rapalas at a speed of about 2-2.5mph.

You can not mix different baits such as live and rapala in your trolling spread due to the different actions required for the proper presentation of each.

During the spawn run a lot of striper and hybrids are mistaken for white bass so....
Know your species and make sure you identify any fish you keep. There is no limit on white bass, there is a 3 fish limit on striper/hybrid and a 20 inch minimum length on striper. You may not keep more than 3 striper and hybrid in combination.

WALLEYE

Walleye run is pretty much done and the fish will be shifting back down stream. Walleye spawn temp range is 40-54 degrees. The fishing for walleye will slow down dramatically soon.

Most walleye will be about 5-10ft deep, fish are being taken off the points and on mid stream humps. Check upstream and down stream edges of humps and points.

A casting approach using spoons, rooster tails, and jigs is productive. Try white, chartrues, orang, silver.

Flat line troll over shallow bars with rapalas in natural blue or black back combos are also producing.

Try rogues in clown flash also.

Also fish shad raps in fire tiger or clown colors.
