Beaver Lake Striper Report

BAILEY'S BEAVER LAKE GUIDE SERVICE (479)366-8664 Fishing has been slow but the action is picking up, the stripers are feeding as daily temperatures continue to rise near the 60 degree mark. The bait is staying near the surface looking for the warmest water. The white bass run should be in full swing by the 1st of April.

Birds will help to determine the best area's this week, however you should be looking upstream of the birds.

The striper have started their push up river. The activity level will increase as the ambient temperature continues to rise.

Most fish are 8-20 deep. "Free linning" or "flat linning" are the technique's to use.
An umbrella rig will also produce. Try trolling redfins, rapala's and other shallow plugs about 150ft back. Try using planer boards with your plugs or live bait in order to spread your efforts in an attempt to locate the most active biters.

Live bait as always on Beaver Lake when fishing for Trophy Stripers will be the go to approach.

For daily Beaver Lake levels and flow data go to my website and click on the Daily Beaver Lake Level and Flow info link.

The following area's should hold fish, however try to find the warmest water possible (Look in the backs of coves they will warm the fastest). This will also depend on lake flow. You will find a link to the Beaver Lake level and Flow charts for Beaver Lake on the Area/species information page of my website.

Here's on old guides trick, if you are fishing up river where the water is dirty try dipping your shad/minnows tail in a chartreuse dye it doesn't matter if it is scented it just makes the bait more visible to the fish.

On the white river from the hwy 12 bridge to mouth of War Eagle where it meets the White river.

War Eagle/White river junction-Look in the mouth of the War Eagle up to the boat ramp at Natural walk.

Hickory Creek- Fish activity is picking up.

Horeshoe Bend-Fish activity is picking up.

On the mid and lower sections check out these area's. Water temp is in the 40's.

Prarrie Creek -Birds are feeding consistently in the area. Look for fish from the islands to the bridge.

Copper mine-Area's near points 8 and 9 and 10 are holding some fish.

Rocky Branch-Lots of birds and bait in this area. Look near the bluff's by the marina,in front of the marina along the gravel bank across the bay to the "big rock" also near "Red Bluff" and the road bed extending from the gravel bank to the island. The shad are about 5-20 feet deep and the striper are scattered from 8-35ft deep. Several trophy fish have been taken here.

Van Hollow-Area around twin coves and point 6 are holding fish and bait.

On the main lake try fishing jigging spoons 20-60ft deep in these area's 5-6-8-9-10.
