Beaver Lake Striper Report

BAILEY'S BEAVER LAKE GUIDE SERVICE (479)366-8664 Fishing has been slow but there are fish to be caught, most fish will be bottom oriented and in the mid lake section of the lake. Most fish are 30-70ft deep. With the cold front coming through this week the fish will remain down and fishing will be difficult. I expect another "shad kill" near the end of the week. Live bait will be the go to approach. Some fish can be caught on jigs or jigging spoons. You will have to get in their face with whatever you use. Bottom fishing should be productive over the coming weekend.

We may see more ice form up river late in the week.

The Corp of Engineers are dropping the lake! Watch out for navigation hazards you may have forgotten about during the high water period. Current through the lake will have fish facing "up river" and relating to current breaks to ambush bait. With this in mind you should be checking the upstream and downstream edges of points, islands, hump's, road bed's etc..

For daily Beaver Lake levels and flow data go to my website and click on the Daily Beaver Lake Level and Flow info link.

The following area's should hold fish, however try to find the clearest water possible. This will most likely be in the coppermine area you will need to adjust your technique to the weather condition's. Also remember while they drop the lake the dirty water will move towards the dam and your best fishing will be ahead the "mud line". You will find a link to the Beaver Lake level and Flow charts for Beaver Lake on the Area/species information page of my website.

Here's on old guides trick, if you are fishing up river where the water is dirty try dipping your shad/minnows tail in a chartreuse dye it doesn't matter if it is scented it just makes the bait more visible to the fish.

On the white river from the hwy 12 bridge to the Hickory creek area concentrate efforts near the channel. Water temp is in the lower 40's.

Beavershores - is producing.

Blackburn creek-This area near Horseshoe bend is holding tons of bait and fish. A lot of good things could happen in this area!

Horseshoe Bend-A lot of bait in this area. Look near sharp drops into the channel.

Monte Ne- Water is dirty fishing is slow. Look near the mouth and on the main river channel. Look nearer the main white river channel as the water level drops.

Hickory Creek- Water is dirty fishing is slow. Try the main river channel and the Hickory Creek arm. And keep in mind that the fish will be moving down river into deeper holes as they drop the lake in order to find shelter from the cold front.

On the mid and lower sections check out these area's. Water temp is in the mid 40's.

Prarrie Creek -Is producing fish from the islands to beaver shores. Pay special attention to the gravel bar south of hwy 12 bridge. Look near the steepest drop on the north end of this gravel bar.

Copper mine-Area's near points 8 and 9 and 10 is producing some fish.

Rocky Branch-Look near the bluff's by the marina and at Red Bluff and the road bed extending to the island. The shad are about 10-25 feet deep(they will go deeper with the cold front) and the striper are scattered from 30-70ft deep. Several fish caught here on a recent trip.

Lost Bridge - In the area's of fish trap hollow and pine log. Fish are 30-70ft deep.

On the main lake try fishing jigging spoons 20-60ft deep in these area's 6-8-9-10.
