Beaver Lake Striper Report

BAILEY'S BEAVER LAKE GUIDE SERVICE (479)366-8664 Fishing has been slow but is picking up there are fish to be caught, most fish will be bottom oriented and in the mid lake section of the lake.

The Corp of Engineers has started dropping the lake! Current through the lake will have fish facing "up river" and relating to current breaks to ambush bait. With this in mind you should be checking the upstream and downstream edges of points, islands, hump's etc..

The following area's will hold fish, however with all the melting ice/snow run off Find the clearest water possible. This will most likely be in the coppermine area you will need to adjust your technique to the weather condition's. Also remember while they drop the lake the dirty water will move towards the dam and your best fishing will be ahead the "mud line". With the warming trend that is predicted for this week the shad and the striper could be found near the surface you might try "free linning" or "flat linning" and be on the look out for near surface action. I have been seeing small fish chasing bait near the surface in the van hollow area. If you are fishing up river where the water is dirty try dipping your shad/minnows tail in a chartruese dye it doesn't matter if it is scented.

Ice has been reported from hickory creek area up to the side walk area. Use extreme caution in this area.

On the white river from the hwy 12 bridge hickory creek concentrate efforts in backs of coves and shallow flats near the river/creek channel using the methods mentioned earlier in this report.

Hickory Creek- Water is dirty fishing is slow. Try the main river channel and the Hickory Creek arm.

Horseshoe Bend-Water is dirty fishing is slow. Look near the flats with sharp drops into the channel.

Monte Ne- Water is dirty fishing is slow. Look near the mouth and on the flats near the main river channel. Some fish have been caught as far back as the boat ramp. Look nearer the main white river channel as the water levels drop.

Lost Bridge - In the area's of fish trap hollow and pine log.

Prarrie Creek -Is producing fish from the islands to beaver shores. Pay special attention to the gravel bar south of hwy 12 bridge. Look near the steepest drop on the north end of this gravel bar.

Copper mine-Area's near points 8 and 9 and 10 is producing some fish. Try umbrella rigs or bait fished 20-50ft deep. Use white jigs in the clearer water and chartruse in the stained water.

Rocky Branch-Look near the bluff's near the marina and at Red Bluff and the road bed extending to the island. The shad are about 10-25 feet deep and the striper are scattered from 30-50ft deep.

Beavershores area is producing.

On the main lake try fishing jigging spoons 20-60ft deep in these area's 5-6-8-9.
